Introduction to Integrative Counselling

There are no classes currently available for registration.

This new short course, Introduction to Integrative Counselling, introduces you to the ethos and clinical benefits of working as an integrative counsellor or psychotherapist. You will learn about some of the key counselling modalities, and start thinking about how a practitioner might go about integrating them. You will also develop an appreciation for the strengths of different modalities and how each has something useful to bring to the table, as well as some of the creative tensions between them.

We’ll think about how counsellors and therapists integrate and how each practitioner’s ways of doing this reflects something of their personality, character, history and evolving self. We’ll also look at the rationale for integrative counselling as a modality in its own right, early models and attempts at integration, including so-called 'meta-models', how an integrative practitioner might move between different modalities during work with a client, and some of the theoretical and clinical challenges and critiques of working integratively.

This 30-hour course will be of interest to anyone considering embarking on integrative training or looking to develop a more integrative practice.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.
