Headed by Ollie Berman, the Communications team enhances the reputation of the College, by inspiring positive attitudes and behaviour towards Birkbeck. From the website and media liaison to graduation events, prospectuses and visual identity, we maximise the university's influence and impact through timely, meaningful engagement with external and internal stakeholders.

Communications (Media and PRess)
- Our communications professionals are responsible for external and internal communication strategy, practice, channels and content. Among the areas we cover are media relations, internal communications, research communications, social media and multimedia content and the annual BBK magazine.
- Media - journalists should email our Communications team.
- Staff should visit our SharePoint connect pages to find out how to contribute to Birkbeck Matters or promote research (requires a staff log-in).
Design and visual identity
- Our design and visual identity officer is responsible for how Birkbeck is visually presented to the world. We create beautiful, cohesive design across a range of printed and digital media from prospectuses and video to banners, signage and brochures. We also provide guidance, support, tools and templates to help others use our identity effectively.
- Staff should visit the Marketing and External Relations Sharepoint connect site to view our brand guidelines.
- External suppliers should contact us to request the logo, advice on its usage and other queries relating to our branding guidelines.
- Please note that students are not permitted to use the logo or crest on their own publications, including PhD theses.
- Birkbeck staff can submit a design request.
Digital (website and social media content)
- Our website editors are responsible for producing and maintaining user-friendly, user-focused website content and Birkbeck's style guide. We also provide guidance, training and support for people across the College who work with the website.
- To report any problems with the website, submit an ASK query.
Events (including Graduation)
- The team delivers a wide range of events including College-wide student recruitment and conversion events, large-scale events such as Graduation and reputation and public engagement events, such as inaugural and memorial lectures. The team also advises on best practice in organising and delivering events.
