Applications and admissions

To maintain the safety of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have developed an online learning environment that recreates the unique Birkbeck learning experience, so that students can continue with their studies.

The virtual university provides access to:

  • live interactive seminars delivered by world-class academics, alongside pre-recorded learning materials
  • over 150,000 digital e-books, including many core textbooks, free of charge
  • opportunities to meet, network and complete projects with fellow students online
  • virtual student support services that are second to none.

Our library is also open for students to book COVID-secure study spaces on campus and we are providing in-person learning opportunities where they are necessary, such as for laboratory practicals.

For the 2021-22 academic year, we’re planning on providing a combination of in-person teaching and high-quality online learning.
