Overview
Our Art in London short course is centred around a series of site visits, inviting you to think critically about where and how art is displayed. You will visit six museums, galleries or sites in London to investigate different types of museum architecture, exhibitions and interpretation; we will also look at artwork in non-art spaces such as train stations, parks, city squares and corporate headquarters, as well as in churches and historic houses.
These visits will be supported by a series of workshops in the classroom, and you will be invited to work individually and collaboratively to critically reflect on themes such as location, institutions, place and curation.
Site visits may include:
- The British Museum
- Tate Modern
- St Paul’s Cathedral
- King's Cross Station
- The Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square
Our six site visits usually happen in the afternoon (3-5pm) and are followed by a workshop on campus in the evening (6-7.30pm).
Assessment is via one co-written and one sole-authored blog (250-300 words each) for publication online.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements
Most of our short courses have no formal entry requirements and are open to all students.
This short course has no prerequisites.
As part of the enrolment process, you may be required to submit a copy of a suitable form of ID.
International students who wish to come to the UK to study a short course can apply for a Visitor visa. Please note that it is not possible to obtain a Student visa to study a short course.

How to apply
You register directly onto the classes you would like to take. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis - so apply early. If you wish to take more than one short course, you can select each one separately and then register onto them together via our online application portal. There is usually no formal selection process, although some modules may have prerequisites and/or other requirements, which will be specified where relevant.
