Getting wireless access at other institutions (JRS / eduroam)

Birkbeck is part of the JANET Roaming Service (JRS; also known as eduroam), which is a free wireless service that allows you to log onto the Internet at other education institutions using your ITS username and password.

You won't be able to get access to all of our online services (e.g. online journals), but you will get the same sort of network connection that you might have through broadband at home or at an internet cafe.

Configuring your computer

We suggest you set your laptop or other mobile device to use the eduroam service here first, so that you are sure you can connect and know which username and password to use. If you can connect to one JRS organisation, you should be able to connect to all (or nearly all) of them, although there may be a few  minor differences.
