Knowledge Base

The knowledge base is a library of 'how-to' documents and guides that will help you get to grips with core software and services provided by Birkbeck. 

You can read the documents online, or save or print them for future reference. Some require your ITS username and password to access.

File STORAGE

    • All Birkbeck staff and students have access to OneDrive for storing personal files. OneDrive is part of Office 365. It is cloud-based so files can be accessed using any internet-connected browser. 
    • Accessing  OneDrive: 
      • Students: login to Office 365 using your Birkbeck IT account, then select the OneDrive app. 
      • Staff: if you are on Windows 10, access OneDrive through File Explorer. If you are not yet on Windows 10, login to Office 365. If you have a centrally-allocated Microsoft Exchange mailbox, enter your Birkbeck email address and password. If you have a locally-allocated mailbox, enter your ITS username@birkbeck.ac.uk and password.

  • To download and set up a VPN client for your device, please log in to My Birkbeck (or, if you're a member of staff, My Birkbeck for Staff), select 'My Software' and then click on the version you need under 'Fortinet VPN Client'. Installation instructions are also available under 'My Software'.
