He has recently submitted a PhD thesis undertaking an archival analysis of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, from inception in 1947 to 1970, as part of an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award with the Institute of Contemporary Arts and the London Consortium.

In 2007/8 Ben curated a year long programme of discussions on issues of contemporary curating with the ICA, and was contributing editor to How Soon is Now?, the ICA’s 60th Birthday publication.
