Student accommodation
Applications for accommodation at the University of London Intercollegiate Halls are now closed.
If you are still interested in Intercollegiate Halls, you can email their team to request further information on how to join the University of London waiting list.
Please note that accommodation in London is in high demand and we recommend that you look for alternative private rentals as soon as possible. Use this guide to private rental support to help you in your search.
You can use the London Rents Map to compare average rental costs across different areas of London. Our Bloomsbury campus is well connected by train, underground and bus services, making it easy to commute to Birkbeck from more affordable areas.
You may choose to live outside central London, where more budget-friendly accommodation is available. However, you should ensure that you can travel to campus for all scheduled in-person teaching and academic activities. This is particularly important if you are studying on a Student visa, as you are required to attend classes on campus. We do not recommend that Student visa holders live outside Greater London.
You can access the University of London’s Housing Services (ULHS), the dedicated Private Housing Service, which offers a range of services to assist and support students, including advice on a range of areas, and accommodation contract checking. Contact ULHS directly for appointments available online, over the phone and in person.
