Course Overview

This BSc Business Management (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) offers you the chance to develop cutting-edge skills in business, technology, creativity and leadership and equip you to effectively lead innovation and digital transformation. Employability and flexibility are fundamental too, and you will be introduced to the key function of business so that you can understand where and how the management of people contributes to business success.

  • Why choose this course?

    • The role of innovation and entrepreneurship within organisations is now more important than ever. This course allows you to specialise with skills and knowledge in this field, as well as gaining a foundation in business management.
    • It also offers you the opportunity to follow a placement route which allows you to apply what you have learnt in a work setting, build a professional network and develop the key skills and mindset sought by employers.
    • You will be taught by expert academics, some of whom are also world-leading researchers and have developed the content of this course.
    • It offers you access to partnerships with leading businesses and the chance to attend exclusive events enhancing your professional network and career prospects.
    • It provides you with personalised career coaching and mentoring, and you can take part in our alumni career clinics alongside our career and digital skills courses.
  • What will I learn?

Through active learning with our academics and a host of practitioners you will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will support you as you develop your career in digital transformation. You will gain both breadth and depth to your understanding of businesses and the world in which they operate and develop entrepreneurial skills to support new, start-up businesses or to set up your own business. In your final year you will apply your skills in developing a business plan for a new venture or a new product or service innovation.

  • How will I learn?

You will learn via a range of different methods including lectures, seminars, presentations and group discussions. To help you gain practical knowledge first-hand, we also host guest speakers and offer you live case study sessions and panel discussions with entrepreneurs and practitioners.

You can study this course full- or part-time. You can also choose your own timetable for the core/compulsory modules selecting whether to study them in the daytime or in the evening. Find out more about choosing your own timetable.

  • How often will I attend classes?

Full-time: Usually two to four afternoons or evenings a week, October to July.

Part-time: Usually one to three afternoons or evenings a week, October to July.

  • Placement route

The full-time Placement route is designed to enhance your employability. It will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in the workplace and apply learning from your degree in a professional setting. You will also be supported in areas such as effective job searching, the development of key application, interview and assessment skills and how to make a personal impact in the workplace. Please note that this option is not available for students who require a Student visa to study in the UK.

  • Foundation Year

If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study during an additional year (full-time) or two years (part-time) of supported study. This option is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.

Once you successfully complete your Foundation Year studies, you will automatically advance onto the main full-time degree.

  • Pathways

This course is a Pathway of BSc Business Management which has additional Pathways to offer you the chance to specialise depending on your interests and career goals:

BSc Business Management (Human Resource Management)

    BSc Business Management (International Business)
