UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP)

Since 2010, commencing with the first edition of the Executive Master in Global Sport Governance (MESGO), the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre has worked with UEFA, the governing body of European football, the Centre of Law & Sport at the University of Limoges (CDES), and a number of other leading European universities and sport governing bodies to deliver high-quality Masters-level executive education for the sport sector. The partner programme to the MESGO, the UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP), was launched in 2015.

UEFA Executive Master for International Players

The UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP) is a tailor-made programme designed to educate former international football players, who have played at the highest level, and who are now ready to take the next step in embarking on a career in administration and business management in the football industry.

Partnered Institutions

The UEFA MIP programme is delivered by the partnership of Birkbeck and the Centre de Droit et d’Economie du Sport (CDES) at the University of Limoges, France (the awarding university). As its name suggests, the primary sport industry partner is UEFA, the governing body of European football. The programme is also supported FIFPro (the world players’ union for professional footballers) and the ECA (the European Club Association).

Birkbeck’s involvement reflects not only its reputation as a leading European academic centre for the study of sport, but also the College’s central mission to provide high-level university education for working people.

Application Process

As a collaboration between multiple institutions, the application process is not directly managed by Birkbeck but through a separate website. The UEFA MIP website contains further information, including explanatory videos, a brochure covering the current course, and guidance for how to apply.
