The NUS (National Union of Students) is a voluntary membership organisation which is a confederation of 600 students' unions, amounting to more than 95 per cent of all higher and further education unions in the UK.

I want to enrol and pay monthly by direct debit, how do I find out how much I will pay?

If you are enrolling on a module or a modular Certificate: You can calculate exactly how much you will be paying monthly by commencing your enrolment and selecting the modules you wish to complete. After selecting modules and providing appropriate details you will be displayed the payment options including the direct debit monthly instalments. When this option is selected the exact amounts and dates will be displayed.
If you are enrolling on a programme: In the last part of your enrolment, if you select to pay by Direct Debit, a statement will confirm the total number of instalment and the amounts.
It is important to note that the payments displayed are only for if the payment is made that day, they may subsequently change if enrolment completed on a later date.

Birkbeck will consider all applications for admission, even if you do not have any formal qualifications.
- For most Certificate of Higher Education modules, there are no formal entry requirements; but you should check the course description to be sure.

What are the English language requirements for Certificate of Higher Education courses?

At Birkbeck, we encourage applications from students without traditional qualifications, and there are usually no entry requirements for Certificate of Higher Education modules. However to benefit fully from your studies, you should be able to read, write and speak English fluently. If you feel that you need to improve your written or oral skills in English, we recommend that you enrol on one of our English language courses.
Where entry requirements or tests do apply, you will find the relevant information in the course listings (always under the heading 'Entry requirements'). Please note: you must be 18 years of age (or over) at the point of enrolment.

What is the Disabled Students' Allowance?

The Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) provides funding to meet the cost of disability-related study costs.
Allowances are not means-tested and may go towards specialist equipment (such as an adapted computer), non-medical study support (for example, a sign-language interpreter, a note-taker or a dyslexia support worker) or other related expenses.

Once you have accepted a place on a course by enrolling, you will be sent an email with your personal username and password. Your username and password will remain the same for your course of study with Birkbeck.
- All of our students have access to our IT courses, guides and online IT resources.
- Computing facilities are available in the library and in several areas of our central London campus.
