Marketing

Our group examines contemporary marketing problems from a variety of perspectives, all offering important insights for organisations a cross a wide range of industries. We study issues around customer-brand relationships from the perspective of relationship management, employee behaviour and sustainability, among others.

Staff Expertise

  • Consumers and the digital age: As the world becomes highly digitised, firms continuously seek to learn new ways to communicate with consumers, sell and promote their products. Novel issues around privacy, rights to free speech, influencers' promotions and a lot more have taken centre stage. We address these topics with a view to inform marketing decision-making (Sammour, Trim and Sibai).
  • Managing conflict and crises in organisations: Businesses often face conflict, internally and externally, with other organisations and with consumers. We examine what communication techniques work best for organisations facing corporate crises and internal conflict from the perspectives of crisis management and consumer emotions (Crisafulli).
  • Marketing decisions for the benefit of society: Many firms nowadays set social and environmental goals with the aim to make a positive impact on society. We explore what marketing can do to accomplish this aim. In particular, we address issues around consumer culture (Hackley), gender equality in consumer research (Hein), circularity and sustainability, value chain improvements and brand activism (Yamoah).
