Taster events and drop-in sessions
We run regular Taster Events, Question and Answer Drop-ins and Departmental Open Days throughout the year.
Taster Events
Taster Events give you a chance to find out what it's like to study in our Department and to speak to members of the academic team about our courses, facilities and research. Use the content on this page to get an insight into what it's like to be a biological sciences student at Birkbeck. Links for the next taster events will be shown below when they available.
A typical undergraduate Taster Event usually includes:
- details of the undergraduate courses offered
- an overview of teaching and research facilities
- a taster lecture with a question and answer session to give you the experience of being a student here
- a chance to discuss the course content and your background with members of the academic team.
Question and Answer Drop-ins
Our drop-in question and answer sessions are aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate applicants who want to meet the course director, or admissions tutor, from an individual programme. Applicants can ask questions about the course, their application and find out what it's like to study in the Department. Details of the next question and answer sessions will be listed here when available.
Department Open Days
Our virtual research events focus on elements of our research programmes in Analytical and Biological Chemistry, Microbiology, Structural Biology and Bioinformatics. Details of how to book for the next one will be posted here when available.
