Statement of service to students, 2021-22
Birkbeck offers a unique combination of evening study, a central London location, and high-quality digital and in-person resources to support a community of 12,000 students who all study for a University of London award.
Birkbeck offers a famously friendly, welcoming environment and we will be with you every step of the way.
You can use the Ask system which you can access through your My Birkbeck profile to ask us a question, or you can call or email us.
Birkbeck administrative and support services offer the highest levels of service and accessibility. Our professional and support services are tailored for Birkbeck's diverse student body who combine work and study with other responsibilities. We will be available online for students so that you do not need to make special trips to Bloomsbury to access support services. We will also offer many in-person options.
We will endeavour to:
- provide you with a safe environment when you are coming into our central London locations
- provide all the information you need to enrol and be ready to study by the start of term
- provide accessible and responsive services to you
- treat all students with respect, in a friendly and supportive way
- respond to all queries (including those received through the Ask system, telephone and email enquiries) within five working days. It might take us longer to resolve your query.
- keep you updated with the progress of queries that take longer to resolve
- provide up-to-date information through our Ask system so you can access the information you require as quickly and easily as possible
- work collaboratively with colleagues across Birkbeck to resolve your query as efficiently as possible
- respect your confidentiality and dignity
- welcome you, listen to you, and respond to your feedback
- equip and prepare you for your next steps after study.
