Host a micro-placement
We can connect you with talented Birkbeck students and graduates to complete a micro-placement with little to no financial cost, helping you to solve a real-world problem.
At the core of each micro-placement is a self-contained project that delivers a genuine benefit to your organisation. It will also include clear learning outcomes and objectives for the individual to work towards. The multiple routes to hosting a micro-placement are listed below.
Types of Micro-Placement
Micro-Placement Module

- These placements are 70 hours in duration and can be in any sector.

Micro-Placements for disabled students
- We're looking for disability-confident organisations to host rewarding micro-placements for students and graduates with a disability, who are neurodivergent or have a mental health or long-term health condition – including those with overlapping experiences.

- You will receive dedicated, tailored support from us to ensure the micro-placement is valuable for your organisation and everyone involved.
- If you want to host an Ability student or graduate, or have any questions about the programme, please email the Ability team.
Micro-Placements for Black and Black mixed heritage students
- We’re looking for organisations who are passionate about developing the careers of Black and Black mixed heritage students through fulfilling micro-placement experiences.
- As the Amplify Programme is fully funded, your organisation will not need to pay the student. Plus, you and the student will receive bespoke and ongoing support from us.
- If you want to host an Amplify student, or have questions about the programme, please email the Amplify team.
