Partner hall: The Garden Halls

The contemporary accommodation complex provides a wealth of communal spaces in which residents are able to socialise, study and relax. Garden Halls also provides a wealth of catered and self-catered accommodation options ranging from en-suite rooms, studios and self-contained apartments, all the way to townhouse-style rooms.

Facilities

  • 24-hour reception, quiet study room, common room, laundrette, bike storage, computer room, tennis courts, cinema room, music room, WiFi, green courtyards.
  • A canteen is available in the main building.

Catering

  • Catered contract includes breakfast and dinner. Students with College commitments who cannot return in time for the evening meal can pre-book a late meal at reception.
  • Students in self-catered rooms have access to a kitchen to prepare their meals. They can also use the canteen on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Rooms

CONTRACTS

  • Nominated students will sign an agreement with the University of London Accommodation Services. Once nominated by Birkbeck, all aspects of the student's contract and life in halls will be managed by the University of London. 
  • Contract duration: 40 weeks for most rooms, 17 September 2023 -  22 June 2024. 50 weeks for large townhouse single, 17 September 2023 - 31 August 2024. 
  • Allocation by Birkbeck in this hall will be exclusively for the dates stated above.
  • Contract start date cannot be delayed.
  • Students who have been nominated for a room in this hall and wish to request an early arrival should contact the University of London Accommodation Service once they receive their contracts. Requests for early arrivals will be dealt with exclusively by the University of London Accommodation Services (not Birkbeck accommodation).
  • Contract extension after June 2024 can usually be applied for depending on availability. Contract extensions are arranged directly with the hall administration, during term two.
  • Rent includes insurance, utility bills, WiFi. Breakfast and evening meals are included in catered accommodation only.
  • A deposit and administration fee will be payable to the University of London on receipt of the contract.

  • Please note that only the rooms listed above are available for Birkbeck students to apply for via Birkbeck accommodation.
