International partnerships

The study of business and the environment in which corporations operate increasingly requires a global outlook. Our partnerships with institutions across the world provide mutually beneficial learning, research and collaboration opportunities.

Kogod School of Business, American University

  • Kogod School of Business, American University is Washington DC's first business school, offering a full-time MBA programme and a further seven specialized Master’s degrees in different areas of business.
  • Kogod and the School of Business, Economics and Informatics signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2019. Since then, staff on both sides have been working on a variety of exciting teaching collaborations and research projects.

Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE)

  • SWUFE is the training base for political and economic talent in Southwest China and is one of the country's leading institutions for economics and finance education.
  • The School has a long standing and successful partnership with SWUFE. Jointly, we offer a double Bachelor's degree, in which students can earn two degrees in four years. As part of this partnership, Birkbeck academics regularly teach at SWUFE.
  • We also offer two Summer Schools per year, one in London and one in Chengdu, China. This gives Birkbeck students the chance to learn about a specific business topic in China, learn Chinese, experience Chinese culture and the first-class hospitality that SWUFE offers, meet SWUFE students and make friends.

University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB)

  • The University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) is a renowned public university located in Milan, Italy.
  • Students from UNIMIB are able to come to Birkbeck and study at the Department of Economics, Mathematics & Statistics an, in two years, earn a Double Master's Degree in MSc Quantitative Risk Management with Machine Learning and a Laurea Magistrale in Economia e Finanza.

Universitat Internacional De Catalunya (UIC)

  • Since 2019-20, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) Barcelona and Birkbeck have been running a Dual Degree programme where UIC Barcelona students can attain both Bachelor in Business Administration from UIC and one of BSc Economics, BSc Financial Economics or BSc Marketing from Birkbeck after five years of study in Barcelona and London.
  • From 2022-23, this will involve UIC students spending Year 4 in London, taking 120 credits of final year modules before returning to Barcelona in Year 5 to complete the degree at UIC.
  • This is a unique opportunity for students to gain two degrees; one at UIC Barcelona and one at Birkbeck, University of London, as well as gaining experience across differing cultures and potentially embracing work experience in these settings. Students will benefit from the chance to study in London for a University of London degree together with students from all around the world. They may even have a chance to gain work experience through internships during their year in London.
  • The learning journey is intended to be both academically rewarding and vitally useful in applying management skills to the students' work experience, thus providing a platform for students to enhance and develop their careers.
