We offer an extensive portfolio of courses that span a variety of academic disciplines and engage with the latest ideas and techniques in film, television, digital and print media, and journalism.

Our courses equip you with the specialist knowledge to grow a career in the media industry. Our campus in central London includes facilities such as the award-winning Birkbeck Cinema, the Peltz Gallery, and computer labs equipped with video editing, print layout and web design software.

In addition to your course programme, you can attend our dynamic programme of seminars, events and guest lectures organised by affiliated research centres and networks such as Birkbeck Interdisciplinary Research in Media and Culture, the Birkbeck Institute for the Moving Image and the Vasari Research Centre for Art and Technology.

Dr Justin Schlosberg, Senior Lecturer in Journalism and Media, argues that the media failed in its duty to scrutinise all forms of power and authority and in accurately representing the UK’s role in the EU.
