Hospitality for room bookings

Everyone's needs are different when organising meetings and events, so please check our hospitality brochure to find out about the services we currently offer both internal and external customers:

On-campus catering venues

  • Daily menu is available on our electronic boards.
  • Allergen listings are available in the restaurant and cafes.

  • Birkbeck Central cafe

    • Monday to Thursday, 8am-6pm and Friday 8am-4pm.
    • As of June 2026, our dinner service has moved from Terrace 5 to the Central cafe, and takes place from 4pm to 7pm during term time.

    Located on the ground floor, the cafe in Birkbeck Central is a calm and comfortable area of campus, perfect as an alternative study spot.

  • George Birkbeck bar and social space

    • Monday and Tuesday 4-10pm, Wednesday to Friday 4-11pm (open only during term time)

    Right in the middle of campus, Birkbeck's own student bar serves up inexpensive beer, wine, and cocktails as well as a huge range of non-alcoholic drinks. You can enjoy evening views of the city from the roof terrace, along with Karaoke Tuesdays, board games, darts, and pool.

    A range of hot and cold snacks is also available.

    Find it on Level 4 of Birkbeck's Malet Street main building.  

  • Malet Street Coffee Company (Perch Cafe)

    Find us to the right of our main Malet Street building's reception, at the Torrington Square entrance.

    • Monday to Friday, 8am-9pm; Saturday, 9am-5pm

    Enjoy healthy smoothies, sushi, sandwiches and meal deals, plus ethically-sourced coffee and tasty pastries. 

  • Terrace 5 restaurant

    • Open throughout the year for lunch from 12pm to 2pm.

    Daily selections include homemade main courses and chef's specials. There will be a range of meat, vegetarian and vegan options available each day.

    You can also expect homemade cakes, plus a salad bar over the summer.

  • Vending machines

    There are vending machines available in the basement area of the main Malet Street building, containing hot and cold drinks and confectionery.
