Food and drink on campus

On Birkbeck's campus, you can find cafés, the student bar and the roof terrace that overlooks Torrington Square. Our central London neighbourhood means that you are also surrounded by food and coffee options near to campus.

Here's a look at what's on offer with options that suit a range of budgets.

Malet Street Coffee Company, on campus

Find us in the following Birkbeck locations:

  • Torrington Square
    • Monday to Thursday: 8am-9pm
    • Friday: 8am-7.30pm
    • Saturday: 9am-4pm
  • Birkbeck Central
    • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am-8pm
    • Friday: 8.30am-5pm

Enjoy our range of sushi, meal deals, plus ethically sourced coffee, fresh pastries, and hot meals served from 4pm.

Terrace 5 restaurant, on campus

  • Monday to Friday, 12-2pm (both in and out of term time)

Enjoy a main meal for £7.50, a weekly dish served on rotation. All meals are offered as a meat or vegan version.

Find Terrace 5 on Level 5 of Birkbeck's Malet Street main building.

George Birkbeck bar and social space, on campus

  • Monday and Tuesday: 3.30-10pm
  • Wednesday to Friday: 3.30-11pm

Open only during term time.

Right in the middle of campus, Birkbeck's own student bar serves inexpensive beer, wine, as well as a huge range of non-alcoholic drinks. You can enjoy evening views of the city from the roof terrace, along with Karaoke Thursdays, social events, board games, darts, and two pool tables.

Find it on Level 4 of Birkbeck's Malet Street main building.

Microwave kitchen, on campus

You can bring your own food to campus and microwaves are available in the following locations

  • Birkbeck Central Building, 4th floor
  • Clore Management Centre
  • Euston Square
  • Gordon Square

Water points

You can refill your bottle at free water points that are available around campus.
