Biography

I work as a Demonstrator on the Statistics and Data Science module for the Bioinformatics MSc course, alongside finalising my PhD at the University of Portsmouth in collaboration with Royal Botanic Garden, Kew.

My PhD research focuses on the evolution and ecology of Nicotiana section Suaveolentes, a group of wild tobacco found across Australia, some Pacific Islands, and Namibia. I am investigating how environmental factors influence species' distributions and their underlying genetic structures (i.e. chromosome number and genome size), inferring and resolving the sections taxonomy, and delve into population genetics to determine the inter and infra species diversity and gene flow from islands to mainland. My earlier research experience encompassed plant spatial ecology, conservation and Redlisting, and agrobiodiversity.
