    Biography

    Mohammad Golam Sarwar is a law researcher and academic with 10 years of working experience, particularly focusing on law and development, international and environmental law, business and human rights, Just transition and climate justice, sustainable investment, and SDGs. Mr. Sarwar is an Assistant Professor of Law (on Study leave) at the University of Dhaka. He is currently pursuing PhD in Climate Law and Alternative Development at SOAS University of London as a Commonwealth Scholar. He also works as a Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) at SOAS. 

    Additional to his extensive research experience, he is also experienced in drafting and reviewing laws and policies; conducting workshops; and coordinating consultations with government and civil society. Mr. Sarwar has previously worked with UNDP, UN WOMEN, UNRCO, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNODC, European Union, ILO, IDLO, and National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh.

    He has experience of drafting State Party reports under International Human Rights Treaties for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bangladesh.   He worked as a legal consultant for the University of Oxford under a project on clean river policy in urban Asia. He provided editorial support to the Law & Our Rights page of The Daily Star for more than ten years.

    He has published a good number of research articles in peer reviewed journals and books published by ROUTLEDGE, SPRINGER NATURE and BRILL- Nijhoff on various aspects of international law, environmental law, climate justice, constitution and human rights. Mr. Sarwar holds a master’s degree in International Development Law and Human Rights from University of Warwick, UK, with Chevening Scholarship.
