Biography
Clea McEnery West is the Director of Birbeck Centre for Counselling, a professional training and education hub in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition to running the Counselling Centre where she is involved in all aspects of the Centre and its programmes, she teaches on the MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Clea is a practising psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. She gained a PGDip in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in 2005, and later an MA Psychoanalytic Studies. She has extensive experience as a psychotherapist in private practice and has worked in various counselling and psychotherapy organisations. She has been a clinical supervisor for counsellors at MIND in Barnet and at Highbury Counselling Service.
Her background is in publishing and education. She publishes articles about psychotherapy and related issues, mainly in the Journal of Psychodynamic Practice which was founded by Birkbeck alumni, and she is involved in book commissioning projects to further knowledge in the field.
