Birkbeck welcomes international students with a series of events and activities

As the new term begins, incoming and returning international students will have the opportunity to partake in over 70 in-person and virtual networking events.

Birkbeck's Bloomsbury Campus where International students will be welcomed

Birkbeck will soon welcome international students with an extensive programme of events and activities that will help them settle into life in the UK.

Students travelling to the UK can look forward to opportunities to network with other students, explore Bloomsbury and London, and get support with their studies – while maintaining COVID-19 safety measures.

There are limited spaces for each event, so students are advised to book early and all new and continuing international students (including full-time EU students) will be considered priority for booking purposes.

Professor Kevin Ibeh, Pro Vice-Chancellor International, said: “This programme illustrates the rich and expansive suite of extra-curricular learning opportunities that international students may expect when they begin or return for their studies at Birkbeck in a few weeks. The carefully designed package of social, cultural, networking, skills-enhancing and employability events strongly reinforces Birkbeck’s internationalist ethos, as well as its priority focus on students’ wellbeing, readiness and sense of community. Our student-centric orientation also means that every care has been taken, and will continue to be taken, to ensure that these activities are fully COVID-secure.”

All events are free to attend, and range from a scavenger hunt, book club, sightseeing bus tour, film screening, pub quiz, walking tours of Bloomsbury and London, as well as sessions on study skills, safety and work-life balance. Students are also encouraged to attend the One World Festival Programme, a series of events designed to celebrate Birkbeck’s diverse, international culture. A few event highlights are listed below:
