Birkbeck's 373 Euston Road building has been selected to feature in the Open House Festival, an annual two-week celebration of London featuring events, tours and open days of the city's most remarkable homes, architecture and landscapes.

This year's festival is taking place from 6 to 17 September, and visitors will be able to book to attend a walking tour of 373 Euston Road along with the architect on Saturday 9 September.

Set over seven storeys, the 373 Euston Road teaching centre houses a striking 180-seat copper-clad lecture theatre with a roof terrace; ten new classrooms for between 30 to 60 students; a student lounge and café; and social learning areas. The building has a Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment (BREEAM) 'Excellent' sustainability rating with features such as green roof, rainwater harvesting system and photo voltaic system which converts sunlight into electricity. The New London Architecture (NLA), which showcases London's best and most innovative projects in its annual New London Awards, announced Birkbeck's 373 Euston Road building as the winner of the 2021 'Learning' category.

Van Nguyen, Deputy Director of Estates at Birkbeck, commented: “We’re delighted that 373 Euston Road is partaking in the Open House Festival, and look forward to welcoming visitors. The building was officially opened in October 2021 by Councillor Sabrina Francis, former Mayor of Camden, and it contributes to our long-standing ambition of every student being taught on Birkbeck premises as part of our work to improve the learning and education experience of our students.”
