What is Pathways?

Join us for a welcoming day of interactive activities and learn useful tools to help you plan out and achieve your goals.

Pathways has been designed to give people the space to reflect on their life, their strengths and their goals. The activities are fun and interactive, helping participants think deeply about what they enjoy doing and how to utilise their skills. The materials challenge the negative stories we often tell ourselves, whilst recognising the practical obstacles we need to overcome to achieve our goals. Pathways draws inspiration from all aspects of people's life - including parenting, life's ups and downs, caring responsibilities and different lived experiences.

What does the programme cover?

-> 10am-11:45am : Find Your Work Strengths

Through engaging and interactive activities, you will identify both your strengths and the skills which give you energy and purpose. By focusing on these strengths and skills, participants will gain clarity on their next steps. 'Finding your work strengths' invites you to reflect on your whole self and the skills you've gained not just from work, but from all aspects of life. This reflection is a positive one and reframes the failures and obstacles we often face.

-> 11:45am-12:15pm: FREE LUNCH PROVIDED

->  12:15-13:30: Moving Forward

After identifying your strengths, 'moving forward' gives you the tools to plan out your next steps. Materials are designed to allow you to take the small steps towards the big goal, making it more achievable. Staff understand the many different needs and barriers you may have, or face and are able to provide empathetic advice and helpful signposting.

 *Certificate of participation from Birkbeck included along with participant pack.*

Who can take part?
The workshops will be relaxed, interactive and require no prior experience - an open mind and a willingness to self-reflect will be beneficial.

This event is for those who have not been to university in the UK as we will be covering skills that are used when studying there.
