Evaluating Sources

When:
Venue: Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street

Book your place

This session is part two of the Library Saturday Workshop taking place on the 24th October for Birkbeck students.

In this session we will:

  • Explore what different source types are available in detail.
  • Identify what distinguishes an 'academic' resource from others.
  • Learn some of the common metrics available to help us assess a source at a glance.
  • Learn techniques to help evaluate the quality of sources in more detail.

We won't be presenting right and wrong answers, but thinking together about what is involved. We encourage you to bring along any examples if you've had a resource that you weren't sure about using as part of your studies (but this isn't mandatory).

The other two sessions for this Saturday workshop are:

Finding Journal Articles (14:00 - 15:00)

Managing Your References using Zotero (16:00 - 17:00)
