What does it cover?

Drama Online is a digital library that comprises a number of separate collections:

  • Over 350 audio recordings of drama by LA Theatre Works
  • 400 drama titles from specialist theatre publisher Nick Hern Books
  • A collection of 21 Shakespeare's Globe stage productions
  • The Shakespeare and Early Modern Videos Collection
  • Playwrights Canada Press Collection featuring over 170 plays from established and emerging Canadian playwrights
  • Aurora Metro Books Collection highly contemporary collections of women’s drama, international drama and drama by black and Asian writers
  • The Hollow Crown Series 1 & 2  an award winning series bringing together Shakespeare’s history plays
  • BBC Drama Films adaptations of classic and contemporary plays from Sophocles and Shakespeare, to Oscar Wilde, Henrik Ibsen, August Strindberg, Bernard Shaw and contemporary writers, Michael Frayn and Joe Penhall. 

There is also access to the Bloomsbury and Faber Collection

  • The collection is accompanied by a wealth of innovative teaching and performance tools, including: overviews of major concepts and topics, biographical entries on key performers, playwrights, directors, designers, choreographers and composers and critical works on major playwrights.
  • As well as covering past and present drama from the English-speaking world, the collection also provides works from key European playwrights in translation.
