Institute for Criminal Policy Research (ICPR) 

 

The Institute for Criminal Policy Research carries out multidisciplinary research into crime and the criminal justice system. Its audiences include policy-makers and their advisors, practitioners, academics and the wider public. Its aim is to improve criminal justice policy and to contribute to academic knowledge and public debate about crime and criminal justice.

Research currently being conducted by the Institute includes the following areas:

  • Attitudes to crime and punishment
  • Sentencing and courts
  • Crime reduction
  • Drug markets and drug treatment
  • Work with offenders
  • Offenders with multiple needs
  • Policing of cannabis
  • Policing and community relations
