Executive Dean's welcome

Located in the heart of Bloomsbury, home to many leading educational and cultural institutions, the Faculty of Business and Law provides the highest quality evening-led and flexible teaching in business and law education, which combines cutting-edge theory with real-world practical application.

Schools

Our two schools aspire to create a student-centred education culture which puts the learning partnership centre stage.

The Birkbeck Business School offers a range of traditional programmes you would expect to see in a business school. However, we also offer greater breadth, with innovative programmes in areas such as Business Innovation, Culinary Industry Management, and Coaching, which demonstrate our commitment to being a distinctive provider of purposeful business education for a diverse and evolving society.

The Birkbeck Law School's established scholars, expert practitioners and advanced researchers look forward to instructing you in a range of dynamic courses in law. The school’s research has gained an international reputation for its high quality, critical perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches.

The Law School encompasses a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, certificate courses, a law conversion course, and a flourishing doctoral programme. We remain committed to providing students with a high degree of flexibility in their studies. The school marked its 30th anniversary in 2023.

RESEARCH

We produce impactful research that has relevance for industry and our community. The 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) results show that 83% of all research at Birkbeck is rated 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. Our academics address pressing topics such as work-life balance and stress, supporting diversity in entrepreneurship and developing technology to support the emergency services. This underlines our commitment to being a research-intensive faculty that provides an enriching, interdisciplinary space for learning.

STUDENT ENVIRONMENT

Our students join a supportive and challenging learning environment, where they can expand their skillset, experiment with new ideas and network with working Londoners and our international community. They graduate with an expanded outlook and the skills to enhance their personal and professional development, retaining a lifelong affinity with our faculty and the wider Birkbeck community.

We look forward to welcoming you.
