Support is offered by a number of  teams, however usually you should contact the ITS Helpdesk in the first instance who will then refer your query to the relevant team.

  • ITS Service desk
    Contact Service desk for general advice and account Registration or username/password problems.
  • Systems & Networking Team
    For technical advice or to report system or equipment problems.
  • Web Team
    For help with Web-related matters, including:
    • Enquiries and fault reporting relating to the use of central College Web sites and Web-based services and facilities (for any users)
    • Intranet access queries (for students and staff)
    • Advice and support regarding Web authoring, Web accessibility and usability and other Web-related issues (for staff only).
  • CIS Team
    For staff with queries concerning the CIS (Corporate Information Systems) databases and applications such as Student Records, Finance and HR/Payroll.
  • Learning Technology
    For specific questions and problems related to Moodle, including:
    • Moodle login problems
  • School Desktop Support
    ITS are responsible for all aspects of IT support in the School of Arts; School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy; and School of Law.

In person: Student Centre, Ground Floor,  Malet Street Main Building.

Note: the Service desk is open for face-to-face support during the same hours as the Student centre. If the centre closes early, so does the Service desk. The My Birkbeck site has information about the Student Centre's opening hours. Currently, these are:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
10:30am to 6:30pm during term time
10:30am to 6:00pm during vacations

11am to 6:30pm during term time
11am to 6pm during vacations

10:30am to 5pm during term time and vacations

The Systems Team are on duty at the following times:

The desk is staffed by members of the ITS Web Team on a rota basis, weekdays between 09:00 and 17:30.


CIS Team


The desk is staffed by members of the CIS Team between the hours of 09.00 and 17.00 each weekday.

NB For support of desktop equipment and applications (such as Microsoft Office) Central Administration staff should contact the ITS Service Desk.

For specific queries related to Moodle, such as login problems, contact the Learning Technology Team.


Be sure to include your ITS username and full details of the problem you are experiencing.

Please note If you have missing or unavailable modules within Moodle you need to contact your School Office.
