Theatre Conversation: Dramaturgy Now

When:
Venue: Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square

No booking required

The dramaturg is an increasingly significant figure in UK theatre but the role of the dramaturg is often misunderstood. In this talk, Hanna Slattne will draw on her own work to discuss a wide range of dramaturgical processes and relationships. With a focus on the collaborative element central to theatre making, Hanna will pose the questions: how do you get the most out of your dramaturg, and how do you get the best dramaturgy out of your ideas? Because, as Hanna argues, whether you are a writer, a director, an actor, designer or musician, understanding dramaturgy is crucial to making new work of the highest quality.

Hanna Slattne is one of the UK's most experienced dramaturgs and theatre makers, specialising in new work, new writing and cross art form collaboration and with extensive experience in mentoring and facilitating artists in their development processes.

Hosted by Birkbeck's Centre for Contemporary Theatre. Places are limited - you can book your free place online here.
