At Birkbeck you will be taught by the most distinguished scholars in their fields. We have achieved notable success in the 2008 national Research Assessment Exercise with 90% of our research being deemed of ‘quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour’ of which 35% was declared to be ‘world-leading’.

We cater equally for students wishing to study all aspects of English literature from Old English onwards, and students interested in exploring the links between, for example, literature and science, philosophy, technology and visual culture.
