This scholarship is open to students studying BA Japanese Studies, BA Japanese Studies with Foundation Year or BA Japanese Studies with International Experience.

Eligibility

You must be enrolled on an eligible BA Japanese Studies course in the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication

You must be experiencing financial need (normally defined as having a household income of less than £42,875 per year - evidence is expected to be provided).

In the event that there are more equally eligible candidates than there are awards, the student’s academic record may be taken into account.

Students are permitted to apply for the award in consecutive years if their financial situation and academic record make them the most appropriate candidate.

You must be a registered Birkbeck student, studying on a programme that is based at our Bloomsbury campus in London (this includes programmes delivered online).

Value

There will be two scholarships of £5,000 each, to be used for tuition fees only.

If your programme is over multiple years, then the payment will be split across those years.
