Online module selection
Online Module Selection (OMS) is a system for students to choose or confirm the modules that they plan to study in the next academic year. A user guide has been produced to provide more detailed information on how to use the OMS system with step-by-step instructions and screenshots:
- Access the user guide: Using the Online Module Selection
To access OMS, log in to My Birkbeck and click on the Online Module Selection link in the ‘My Studies’ section. We recommend that you use a laptop or computer as some elements may not appear clearly on a mobile phone. If the link is not visible in ‘My Studies’ your programme does not use OMS and you will need to speak to your programme team directly about your modules.
In OMS you will see the module options available to you for the new academic year and can select the ones you wish to take, subject to your programme’s rules. Any Core and Compulsory modules that you must take will have already been selected for you.
Your programme team may send you additional information to assist you in choosing your modules. If you have any questions about which modules to choose you should contact your programme administrator for advice.
Please note: If you have a student loan or a student visa, be aware that you may need to have classes in all three terms to meet the attendance requirements to remain eligible for the loan/visa.
Your submitted choices are provisional until your programme team has reviewed and confirmed them. Your choices may need to be amended if, for example, a module is no longer available or assessment results affect what options you may choose. You will receive an email confirmation when the programme team have confirmed your choices.
Please note that the Online Module Selection system is not yet available on all Birkbeck programmes. Programme teams will contact students about their option modules for any programmes that are not currently using OMS.
