Research across Natural Sciences

Research in the School of Natural Sciences spans biological sciences, including structural biology, bioinformatics, chemical biology and microbiology, and Earth and planetary systems, including natural hazards and astrobiology.

Both subject areas benefit greatly from belonging to joint Birkbeck and UCL research institutes. For biomolecular research, this is the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (ISMB), while for Earth and planetary systems research this is the Institute of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
