BiGS student prizes
Birkbeck Gender and Sexuality awards two prizes annually to celebrate student work that shows excellent engagement with gender and sexuality in any discipline.
These awards will be offered to one undergraduate student and one postgraduate (Master's level) student from any school across the College. Submissions will be assessed on the quality of their creative and critical approach to a topic related to gender and sexuality.
BiGS Postgraduate Student Prize
-
Guidelines
All staff with relevant teaching (Master's-level programme directing, module convening or dissertation supervision) are invited to submit a maximum of one piece of work for consideration by a panel of BiGS members.
We encourage work that addresses gender and sexuality from a range of disciplines, using a variety of interpretative approaches.
Submissions may include written, recorded or in other visual formats, including essays, presentations, reports, performances, films and portfolios.
We ask that programme directors are mindful of other prizes being awarded when submitting their recommendations.
-
Timeline
The timeline for submission will generally include work submitted in an academic year, with a deadline in October so that the prize can be included in graduation ceremonies.
-
How to apply
Submissions are not nominated directly by students but by teaching staff. A call for submissions will be sent out in the summer for the October submission. Any further questions can be sent to the BiGS Director.
