Archaeology

Why study Archaeology at Birkbeck?

At Birkbeck, you will study archaeology on our central London campus and will learn from academics who specialise in areas ranging from British and European prehistory, to the Roman Middle East, through to contemporary Archaeology and Critical Heritage.

A key component on all undergraduate archaeology degrees is our fieldschool, run in collaboration with Museum of London Archaeology (MoLA). Focusing on the archaeology of the River Thames, the fieldschool provides training in a range of practical survey and recording skills through to post-excavation and archive. We take advantage of our central London location, next door to the British Museum, and include site and collection visits in our teaching.
