Biography
Fred A. Yamoah is an experienced academic in further and higher education with proven record in teaching, research, curriculum development, trans-national education, national and international students’ recruitment, consultancy, passionate about emerging technologies and business engagement. He has served in various capacities in further and higher education such as vice principal at further education, programmes leader, deputy director of MBA programmes, accreditation and international partnerships director, post graduate research coordinator, academic quality nominee, amongst others. Fred is well published with over 50 refereed journal publications, two book chapters, a principal investigator for various research projects in the UK and overseas, journal editor, external examiner and visiting professor and a public speaker. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK and a member of the Academy of Marketing UK. He a contributing author of ‘Developing Skills for Business Leadership’, a CIPD 2010 publication and the forthcoming Palgrave publication on ‘Sustainability in Marketing’. Prior to his current appointment at Birkbeck – University of London he served as a senior lecturer at Hertfordshire and Sunderland Business Schools respectively. Dr Yamoah is an experienced PhD Research Development Advisor, Research Supervisor and External Examiner. Apart from working with PhD Research students presently he is also the External Examiner for the University of Newcastle. Fred has successfully supervised over 320 Post graduate dissertations, including supervising PhDs to completion. He is also an approved External PhD Examiner for Plymouth University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of Worcester, examining Doctoral Thesis and have examined over 10 DBA/PhD theses within the UK.
Fred serves as an External Curriculum and Quality Expert on the Academic Board at the City of London Business School, London, UK. Dr Yamoah serves in an advisory and consultative position as marketing and food value chain expert to the technical committee of the government of Ghana’s team leading the flagship agro-industrialisation transformation agency. Fred has also undertaken food marketing-related projects for companies in the UK food sector including Fullwell UK and Tropical Wholefoods, UK. He is an associate editor of sustainable food subsection of Sustainability Journal and the marketing sustainability co-editor for the Annual Review of Social Partnership. He has published his research work at internationally excellent level in 3 and 4 ABS rated journals that has been well cited.
