    Biography

    Gordon graduated from Middlesex University in 1989 with a 2:1 in History of Ideas. After graduation, he spent several years working in Japan and Colombia as a teacher of English and a school principal. Upon return to the UK, Gordon enrolled on a bachelor's degree in Computing and graduated with first-class honours. Gordon then attended the Institute of Education in 2002, from where he graduated with a master's degree in ICT in Education at distinction level. Gordon was then awarded an ESPRC scholarship to complete a master's in research at the IOC in 2003. He graduated in 2004 with a distinction-level award.  

    In 2004, Gordon joined University of London Worldwide as an educational project manager. Gordon worked at UoLWW until 2006, helping to develop distance learning technology and a centre for digital education. 

    Gordon joined Birkbeck in 2006. During his time at Birkbeck, he has helped develop numerous foundation and BSc level modules, and has been instrumental in the development of several of the University's more successful foundation, BSc and apprenticeship programmes.  

    Gordon has served as Chair of the UG Sub-Board of Examiners since 2022. He was rewarded for his service to the University with a promotion to senior lecturer in 2023. 

    Gordon is a disabled member of staff and sits on the University's Disability Confident Committee. He is also a member of the University's Staff Disability Network, which works for improved provision, facilities and recognition for disabled staff.
