Biography
Dr Jamie Kunz is an Associate Lecturer at Birkbeck Law School, where he teaches on the LLM module Environment and Climate Law and Justice.
Jamie recently completed his PhD in Law at the University of Lincoln. His thesis examined how the recognition of nature’s rights in domestic law could influence international legal frameworks, offering more meaningful representation of nature in global decision-making. His doctoral studies were supported by a fully funded Research Investment Fund studentship. At Lincoln, he also taught on the LLB Equity and Trusts module.
While completing his master’s studies at University College London, Jamie was a founding committee member of Public Interest Environmental Law (PIEL) UK and remains involved as an advisory board member. He has also volunteered with Friends of the Earth’s Rights and Justice Centre and Nature’s Rights.
Jamie frequently contributes to policy-facing legal analysis, including writing across the ENDS brand, and has recently joined the Environmental Law team at Freeths LLP.
