The first HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting of the academic year chaired by Andrew Gower, Principal & Chief Executive, was held on the 10th October 2024.
Birkbeck alumnus Philippe Mandangi (LLM 2020), who works in policy, research and analysis at the House of Commons, speaks to us about his time at university, his career aspirations and how he loves to support current students.
The new season of University Challenge began on 12 August.

Over 1,600 people across organisations and sectors were involved in the research, which has been collated into a report that makes clear recommendations for practice and policy to put more focus on wellbeing support which is neurodiversity sensitive.
In March 2024, Birkbeck hosted its inaugural Climate Festival, which provided a platform for new ideas and an exploration into the difference people can make on the environment both locally and globally, through a series of inspiring talks and interactive sessions.
On the 26 September, Linking London held the first T Level Practitioner Group of the academic year and was well represented with FE and HE partners present.
David Eldridge’s new espionage thriller, “Betrayal”, follows a conflicted MI5 officer balancing national security threats with personal struggles while the National Theatre will premiere the final play in his trilogy “End”.
This year’s shortlist covers multiple centuries and countries, with a focus on major turning points in the histories of the Americas, Britain, Bangladesh, Germany, India, Pakistan and South Africa.
The first IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on the 19th September online and was well attended by college and HEI partner representatives.
