This year, Birkbeck and Santander Universities are celebrating ten years of working together in a partnership that has seen students’ lives changed through the Santander Universities’ generous funding.

The latest support from Santander Universities, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Santander Universities programme, is the opportunity for ten Birkbeck undergraduate students to benefit from a grant of £1,000 each.

Rachna Purdue, Deputy Director of Philanthropy, commented:

“Students will have the flexibility to spend the grant on the Santander Aspire webstore, where they can purchase a vast range of products and services, including laptops, books, and office equipment to aid their studies and support university life As the cost-of-living crisis takes hold, we know this flexible support for our students is vital in helping them stay on course to succeed in their time at Birkbeck.

Santander Universities has generously funded a number of Birkbeck projects over the years, which has helped the College fulfil its mission of enabling students from diverse social and educational backgrounds to participate in its courses and to maintain and develop excellence in research, through initiatives such as scholarships and funding for research.

Funded projects have included the Pioneer Programme, a dedicated, extra-curricular course for any Birkbeck student interested in developing skills in enterprise and entrepreneurship; and a research project on enterprise and entrepreneurship skills provision within education.
