Santander Brighter Futures Grants return for Birkbeck students
Students are being invited to apply for one of ten £1,000 Santander Brighter Futures Grants, designed to ease financial pressures and help them make the most of university life.
Birkbeck students have a chance to receive a financial boost this autumn, as Santander Universities once again offers Brighter Futures Grants worth £1,000 each.
A total of ten students will be selected at random to receive the award. The grant is paid directly into the winners’ bank accounts and can be used flexibly to support student life - whether for rent, bills, groceries, study materials, or professional development.
Abbie Carr, Director of Development and Alumni at Birkbeck, said:
“Our partnership with Santander has been supporting Birkbeck students for more than a decade, and these grants continue to have a real impact. At a time when many students are facing financial pressures, the Brighter Futures Grants provide vital flexibility, giving our community the freedom to put the funds towards whatever will best support their studies and wellbeing.”
The scheme is open to all current Birkbeck students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, part-time and full-time learners. Students do not need to be Santander customers to apply.
How you enter
Entering is quick and easy; just follow the steps below and you can complete tour application in a matter of minutes:
- Register for Santander Open Academy, a free online learning platform (if you haven’t already)
- Click the verification link in your confirmation email.
- Log in and choose ‘Get Started’ to complete your entry into the Brighter Futures Grants programme. Select
- Submit your entry by 11pm on 27 November 2025
