New screening of Penny Vera-Sanso's documentary, The Forgotten Generation

Penny Vera-Sanso’s documentary, The Forgotten Generation, will be screened on July 6th in the Pop-up Cinema at the British Society of Gerontologists 47th Conference, Ageing in an Unequal World: Shaping Environments for the 21stCentury, 4th-6thJuly, University of Manchester.

In The Forgotten Generation older people aged over 60 in urban Tamil Nadu, rural Rajasthan and tribal Maharashtra, India, reveal the realities of their lives, relationships and work as well as their expectations of the future. We learn how they manoeuvre within tight constraints to create new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families and friends and how targeted social pensions are producing Kafka-esque encounters with the State.
