Event report - Linking London IAG Practitioner Group Meeting

The first IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on the 25th September online and was well attended by college and HEI partner representatives.

After a warm welcome from Andrew Jones, Director at Linking London, the meeting began with a perspective from Kirstin Burke, Manchester Metropolitan University who presented on using AI in careers guidance including building confidence, tools, training, ethical use and challenges.

This was followed by a college and university round table update from partners on the latest news and updates from each institution. Discussion included forthcoming events and outreach support which include open days, taster days and webinars.

After a short comfort break, we heard from Zoe Evers, Widening Participation Officer, who presented on Northeastern University’s unique offering, including the university’s dual UK-US degree pathways. Zoe also outlined their outreach and widening participation initiatives targeting under-represented groups.

Lastly attendees heard from Ben Rutter, Student Loans Company who presented on presented on the latest HE finance news including, a comprehensive overview of Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), its funding structure, eligibility, and implications for students and institutions.

The next IAG Practitioner Group meeting will take place on the 15 January 2026, 2-4pm.
