ESRC Postdoctoral Awards

The Department of Psychosocial Studies invites applicants for the 2019 ESRC-DTP Postdoctoral Fellowship competition. These are awarded by the UCL, Bloomsbury and East London DTP and are one-year (full time) or two-year (part time) awards aimed at those in the immediately postdoctoral stage of their career. Please contact Professor Stephen Frosh (s.frosh@bbk.ac.uk) or Dr Silvia Posocco (s.posocco@bbk.ac.uk) for details of potential mentors.

ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowships

The UCL, Bloomsbury and East London DTP invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships (PDFs) to be based within departments at the partner institutions within the DTP: University College London, Birkbeck, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the School of Oriental and African Studies, and the University of East London.

Fellowships are aimed at those in the immediately postdoctoral stage of their career, to provide the opportunity to consolidate their PhD through developing publications, their networks, and their research and professional skills.

The PDF call forms part of ESRC’s strategy to supporting early career researchers and will be delivered through the national network of Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) and Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs).

The call is open to applicants who have completed their PhD at a research organisation that is part of a DTP or CDT and who are within 12 months of having completed their PhD. At the submission deadline, the applicant must either have been awarded a PhD or have submitted their thesis and passed their viva voce with minor corrections, with the expectation that the PhD will be awarded by the fellowship start date. All Fellows are required to have a mentor based at the research organisation where the fellowship is held. The mentor should have experience and a strong interest in the applicant’s field of research but should not normally be the applicant’s PhD supervisor.

Call specification, FAQs, and a form showing the required content of applications are available on the UBEL website (see the information at https://ucl.fluidreview.com/). All applicants must submit a preliminary proposal including the required attachments to the DTP (via our online portal) by Monday 21 January 2019 at 23:59. Alongside an application form, candidates will also provide confirmation of involvement from their mentor (who will also liaise about costings if the application goes to the Full stage).

Candidates will be informed of the outcome by 28 January and shortlisted candidates will complete the Full application (with costings, justification of resources, CV etc) will be required by Friday 22 March at 16.00.

The full list of DTPs and CDTs who are eligible to receive proposals and award fellowships can be found here: http://www.esrc.ac.uk/skills-and-careers/postgraduate-careers/early-career-researchers/
