Software and applications

Birkbeck's Immersive Learning Centre provides a range of creative and immersive software, including Adobe Creative Cloud for professional design and media production, alongside tools like Blender, DaVinci Resolve, and ThingLink for interactive 360° learning content. These applications support everything from graphic design and video editing to 3D modelling and VR/AR content creation.

The Centre also incorporates 3D scanning and photogrammetry tools, using technologies compatible with Artec Leo and Artec Spider II to digitise real‑world objects for immersive environments. Additional facilities, such as motion capture, 360° audio tools, and high‑performance PCs, enable students and staff to create detailed VR/AR experiences and multimedia coursework efficiently.

In addition, platforms like Bodyswaps, an AI‑powered VR soft‑skills training system, and VirtualSpeech, which offers VR and online practice for communication and public‑speaking skills, can support learners in developing confidence and essential workplace soft skills.
