Entry information for students from Georgia

  • English language requirements

The English language requirements for our courses are provided on individual course pages as minimum IELTS scores, however we accept many other tests and qualifications.

Please visit our English language requirements page for more information.

  • Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Applicants from Georgia will normally require a Foundation course for entry onto undergraduate programmes at Birkbeck. These offer the opportunity for guaranteed progression onto Birkbeck’s Bachelor programmes.

Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A-levels will be considered for direct admission to our undergraduate degree programmes. IB requirements range from 28 to 33, depending on the course.

  • Postgraduate Entry Requirements

To be considered for entry onto a Master’s degree at Birkbeck, a student from Georgia must have completed a Bakalavris Khariskhi/Diplomirebuli Specialistis. A score of 81-90 from a reputable public institution is considered comparable to a UK 2:1, while a score of 71-80 is equivalent to a UK 2:2.

    Degree classification:

    • A (91-100, English translation or equivalent: Excellent 1st)
    • B (81-90, English translation or equivalent: Very good 2:1)
    • C (71-80, English translation or equivalent: Good 2:2)
    • D (61-70, English translation or equivalent: Satisfactory 3rd)

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower-level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

If you do not meet these criteria, you can apply for OnCampus' Master's Foundation programme, which is available for two- or three-term progression onto a wide range of Master’s degrees at Birkbeck.

  • Research degrees Entry Requirements

The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master's degree from the UK or Magistris Khariskhi from a recognised higher education institution.

Applicants are strongly urged to contact potential supervisors within the department before submitting a research application.
