Giving effective poster presentations

When:
Venue: Birkbeck Central

Book your place

Poster presentations are an established way to communicate key aspects of your research at research meetings and conferences and to build connections with those who view them. This training session will provide you with an overview of the essential features of an effective poster presentation. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own posters or (draft posters) to discuss if they wish. This is an excellent resource to prepare for entering a poster at this year's Three Minute Thesis event.

Aims and objectives
In this session you will:

  • learn about the essential information to include in a poster
  • find out about the practicalities of how to prepare, travel with and display your poster
  • receive advice and guidance about how to present your poster at an event
  • view and consider example poster presentations
  • receive feedback about your own posters or draft poster

Format of the meeting
The session will begin with a Powerpoint presentation followed by a chance to view and review a selection of example posters. Attendees are invited to bring a planned poster (electronic version or printed) and share it with the group to receive feedback in a poster surgery.

Who is this event for?
This event recommended for PGR students at any stage of their research.
